One of the newest groups in the Uni circuit is Bauhaus a instrumental group which has developed an experimental style, which often aims to emulate aspects of our post modern culture simulating various urban sound scapes by using conventional string instruments. The last concert used a series of percusssion and strings in an arrangement which showed the transitions and modes of communication without speech. The aim of the group has been to address the needs of college culture by removing the conventions of traditional classicism. Namely the group attempts to make string music more adept to modern music, by incorporating everything from kate bush lyrics to traditional compositions of bach. The group aims to challenge traditional concepts and perceptions of traditonal string groups by challenging the structures of music.
